Happy Holidays!

Finally a word from me.Just at the last week of the year!
It's not because I didn't have anything to tell earlier,it is totally the opposite! To much to tell!
If you don't send it off right away, new things are coming up, piling up on top of what already have happened!
So what happened yesterday now seams old!  So the first story never got told. And so it went!
I didn't show that much during the summer and fall! After The National Finals in Gladstone, there was a brake.
It's hot during the summer, and the horses were so good earlier on that it was ok to not go out right again.
But I did ride at the Regional Finals in Burbank. I was Champion in Int 1 on Anne Solbrakke's horse Rico. Rode Finally in Grand Prix, and my young horse Regent in the lower levels. All three horses were great!
I have been to Europe several times, looking for horses for me and my clients. Went to Sydney Australia to give a clinic, and work with Pamela and my beloved horse Taison that I sold to her in the spring of 2012.
Basquewille, the love of my life, had to be put down due to colic.I didn't want him to go through surgery, so I did what I thought was the best for him......to let him go.
Horrible decision to make. He is barred on a beautiful spot at Mill Creek!
What a great horse, with super work ethic, that gave me so much joy!!! He was a funny boy!   Basquewille will always have a very special place in my heart.
I almost forgot, that he went back to show one more time in San Diego. Ridden by a very special girl: Brianna in the para dressage classes at The Dressage Affaire. He was so proud, looked so good and Brianna and Basquewille looked great together. I'm so glad he could do what he really liked to do. Work! I really miss him!
In the beginning of 2013 I will take 6 horses and go to Florida. Three of mine, and 3 of my client Anne. I will train and compete, and be gone for two months. It's a huge undertaken to fit all the pieces in the puzzle together, but I hope it all will work. This time I will keep you posted!
Lucky me who has the nicest clients ever! Four of them won some year end award at the LA chapter. They will all go,and hopefully pick up mine as well!
Thanks to my wonderful staff: Anna, Anja and Henrietta.Without you it could never work.
To all: Merry Christmas and  A Happy, Healthy, Safe and exiting 2013

Love Mette

New horses

Finally we got all the horses home to Mill Creek. My horse, Sokrates got here three weeks ago but the mares had to go to quarantine. I decided this time to let them go to Oregon instead of Davis and I'm sure I made the correct decision. All three horses came from Andreas Helgstrand in Denmark and from the day we found them until the day they got here at Mill Creek it becomes a long trip. All three horses are looking great, are slowly getting back to work and Adrienne, Anne and I are very excited for the future. More info about the horses will come soon.

Congratulations to Mette and Rico finishing 5th in the nation!

It's been an amazing week in Gladstone and we are so proud and excited to congratulate Mette and Rico for placing 5th in the Intermediaire National championship!
The competition has been really tough through out the whole week but Mette and Rico definitely showed everyone that they earned a spot in the top 5!
Today was the final day of the show, ending with an Int freestyle. Mette rode to her Disco Carmen music and pulled of a fun and beautiful test, finishing up on the centerline in an extended trot with only one hand! As Mette said, she had nothing to lose!
After winning both the PSG and Int 1, Caroline Roffman and Pie took the title as 2012 National champions with a combined score of 74.5% David Blake on Royal Prinz from San Diego, CA, finished as reserved champions with 72.3%. Heather Mason finished 3rd with Warsteiner scoring 71.8% followed by Steffen Peters and Sundance 8, 71.3%. Finishing in the top 5 spot on a score of 70.8% was Mette together with Rico!
Thank you everyone who has been supporting and cheering them on for the big final! Mette is now on her way back home to California and Rico and his groom Anna are flying home in just a few days. We wish them all a safe trip back and will promise more pictures from the trip as soon as everyone is back home.

A perfect day!

It was so much fun to go into Int 1 knowing that I had nothing to lose.  Together with "my" Rico I did absolutely as good as I could. Rico stepped up to the plate and was so ready that I felt when I left the ring that we had done a great job! The only thing was that everybody else had the same idea', nothing to lose, just to fight. I love that situation  and I have always done better the more pressure Im under. I never get nervous, just more ready. I was in the lead for a long time and when the whole class was done I ended up 4th, very close to 3rd place. That makes me even more eager to be in the top three tomorrow. Thank you all for taking your time to watch me go. I waved to all of you, knowing that you would be out there. Tomorrow I will blow a kiss, and thats for you! My starting time is 12.43pm ET and you can still watch it on www.usefnetwork.com. Caroline Roffman won again and second was David Blake from California, Heather Mason was third and me fourth.
Tomorrow Im flying back to Los Angeles. Anna will stay to take care of Rico and fly back with him on Wednesday.
So please cross your fingers for another successful day and I promise to ride my heart out!

Gladstone

First day of competition

Mette and Rico placed 6th in the PSG today after a really, really nice test and a score of 69.6%.             Rico looked fantastic and had a good, clean test! The competition is really hard with the top 15 horses out of the country. Mette was very pleased, being in the top 6 after the first day. The margin to the horses right in front of them is very small so she feels really confident to go in to the Int 1 on Saturday.
Caroline Roffman on Pie won and Steffen Peters on Sundance was second. David Blake, also from California, was forth. So the three California horses went in for prize giving.
Unfortunately there was no live cover for the PSG but there will be for the classes this coming weekend, starting Saturday at 8.30 am ET. with the Grand Prix special. We think that the Int 1 starts around 2 but we have not got our starting times yet. You can check for the times and for the live cover on www.usefnetwork.com

Finally we are getting closer

So today is Wednesday and Mette rode Rico for the last time before the show starts tomorrow, Thursday. Rico looks really, really good, feels strong and fit.
During the afternoon the jog went on and Rico passed with flying colors. He looks so shiny and content and is ready to go!
After all the rain we got yesterday everything looks so beautiful today when the sun came out. So maybe for the first time over all the times I have been here it looks like the weather will be perfect.
The PSG will start on Thursday at 10 am local time. Remember that you can watch it live on www.usefnetwork.com.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Mette has arrived to Gladstone

Mette has now arrived to Gladstone together with Mill Creeks owner, Cory Walkey.
Mette is really excited to be here and can't wait for the competition to start. Mette took Rico out for a ride earlier today and she says that he looks and feels great after the long trip from LA to the east coast. He has settled in really well and seems to also enjoy being here.
Today is a very quiet day at the show ground. All the Grand Prix horses that showed last weekend are having an easy day and will not be showing again until Friday. The young riders, juniors and pony riders were all competing last weekend so they are packed up and on their way home. At the same time the horses who will be competing in the Intermediere and the Brentina cup are arriving from all over the country.
The jog for the Intermediere horses will be on Wednesday, so until then we are preparing and waiting for the show to start.

Team Mette did it again!

Another great show This was the last show for the horse Rico and Mette before they are off to Gladstone.Mette won the two classes she rode, with a great score. All very exiting, and we are all looking forward to the big trip to N.J This time Mette had 8 other horses going ridden by her students. The riders brought home many blue ribbons, and with Christine Johnston and her horse Finnigan even a high point for the weekend. It was a good show, well prepared rings, but best of all,a great fun team.

Mette and Rico are qualified for the National championships in Gladstone!

After a very successful weekend at the CDI dressage show in Woodside, Mette is now qualified to ride Anne Solbrakke's horse Mosegaards Rico in the National championships in Gladstone, NJ. Mette rode Rico to victory in all their CDI classes this weekend including a Intermediere 1 freestyle which is required for the final at the championships. Woodside is a beautiful show ground about 45 min from San Francisco. It was again a Cornerstone event and everyone did a really great job running the show. Along with Rico, Mette was also showing Finally in the open Grand Prix with two really good rides but still room for improvements. Mettes assistance Anna Dahlberg also brought two horses to Woodside. She won both her open PSG on Cory Walkey's horse Coby 727 and was High point of the day. Lisa McDowell's PRE stallion Hielo Mor did his first 3rd level and was only one point from first place. So it was no doubt a very successful weekend for Team Mette who brought home lots of blue ribbons back to LA. The Nationals in Gladstone will be held over two weekends. The small tour horses like Mette and Rico are going the second weekend, June 15-17th. The top 15 horses will be competing for the title. Mette is very excited to be showing Rico at the finals and she believes they have a great chance in the competition. At the same time the selection trials for the Olympics will be held at this show ground were the team for the 2012 Olympics in London will be picked. It will be a very fun and exciting week on the east coast for sure!

The second show they were competing in was a CDI at the Oaks in San Juan Capistrano were they placed 3rd and 4th in a big field of great horses.

Another great show with lots of blue ribbons!!!

The March show that is normally held at LAEC, Burbank was now held at the Oaks in San Juan Capistrano. It was still a Cornerstone Dressage event run by Glenda McElroy, Jennifer Killinger and their great staff.
The show was more fun; at least for me, because there was a lot going on, show jumping, hunter jumpers and vendors. We had the best stabeling of them all, a room with a view were we could keep track of everything.

The horses we brought were Finally, Hertzregent and Rico.
Finally was out for his first show in Grand Prix and he could not have done it better, by winning the class!
Hertzregent showed in the five year old Qualifying test for young horses and became reserved champion and he also won all his national classes.
Anne Solbraekke’s horse Rico showed in his first CDI PSG and I1 and was placed 4th and 3rd in a big field of great horses.

This was a fun place to show at.Good footing, lots of space, and I know that there will be another show held at the same place in June. It’s also a Cornerstone show, and it’s called Star Spangled Dressage.

The winner takes it all!

What a fun show!! I did 8 rides and won 7,it was great!
I rode My/Finally partners horse HerzRegent in the lower levels. He is so smart and clever, with 3 super good gaits, and has a very elegant look!He is a horse for the future.I really do like to ride him, every day is a fun day!!!
I won 4 classes on him,in mid 70%.Really cool! He also got one second!
Anne Solbraekke's horse Rico was also a star!!I did two PSG,and one Int I.Not only did he win all 3 classes,he did it with scores from 72% to 78%. He was so good, and I'm looking forward to ride him @ the Oaks,a Cornerstone show in San Juan Capistrano.
This time I will go into the CDI. Exciting and fun.Just 10 days away!!
Basquewille was such a good boy with his "new" rider Briana Beckworth. She got her qualifying score to continue her road to the Para Olympics in London. It was so moving to see him go.It was a long time since he was in the show ring. Basquewille was so proud, and looked so healthy and great, and Briana rode him so well, that is was a "win win" situation .
Anna my assistant rode her lovely 5 year old horse,to victory in one class with a score of 75+%,and was second and third in her other rides. He is such a cool horse, and Anna does such a good job! It's a great pair!!
I will end this time down here in San Diego with a clinic for the Para riders. I'm looking forward to work with the riders, and hope we will have a great time!
One more thing.....Thank's to Kim Keenan Stordahl and her "staff" for a fun and very well run show!!Everything worked great, and the show was more then all the others. This is a show to come to! Thanks!

Super first day at the Dressage Affair in Del Mar!

The first day of showing turned out to be really, really good. All four of us did a great job with very high scores. Best of all was Mette riding Anne Solbraekke's horse Rico. She ended up winning the open Prix St. George with a score of 78%, the highest score of the day of all classes, and I tell you, everyone was here!
Regent won both his classes with 74% so that means that Mette won all her three classes today.
Anna was not that far behind with her lovely horse Lourdes, they had one 2nd and one 3rd place with scores in the 70's. Adrienne on her horse Winston had one 1st and one 2nd in PSG and I1 Amateur. And last but not least Brianna on Basquewille got another great qualifying score. She did a wonderful job and Basquewille was very proud of himself.
It could not have been a better day than today!!

Taison

On one hand I'm sad and on the other hand I'm happy that my great Grand Prix horse Taison is sold.
I have had him since he was three years old and we have been together almost every day since then. He was the horse of the year in Training level, went to the finals in Lamplight as a Developing horse and did the National finals in Gladstone and so many other more fantastic things over the years. He has a heart of gold, super good mind to work with and always ready for anything. He left me happy, healthy and sound and I'm sure he will have a wonderful life with his new owner that loves him almost as much as I did/do. Tasion will always be on my mind!

Thursday, March 1, 2012

So its time again!

So it's time again! This time we are going to Show-Park San Diego!
Regent will go out again. Not only did he win all his test @ the last show,he also ended up with the high point in the lower level.Great start of his showing career.
Finally will come with, but only to school. He will do his first Grand Prix, the last weekend of March @ the Festival of Horses,in San Juan Capistrano.A Cornerstone show.I'm almost there!
Basquewille is the real fun part of this show. He will be ridden of a para rider:Breanna.
My beautiful Grand Prix horse, who is now 21 will hopefully take her to victory, and he will be so proud to be out again! After I retired him from the GP circuit, anna rode him in PSG and INt 1.
Since then he is teaching my students the beauty of dressage, home @ Mill Creek> And now,he will go again. It will be so much fun,and I hope he will be proud! Breanna doesn't know him,she will ride him for the first time this Saturday. It is like a blind date!
Anna Dahlberg will not only take care of me and my horses...She is also bringing her own 5 year old gelding Lourdes. He did so well in the January show, and is ready to do it again. So cross your fingers for Breanna Anna and Me...we will keep you posted.

Los Angeles Mid Winter dressage show

Really great start of the season for Mette and her horses at the Mid winter dressage show in Los Angeles.
Mette took her beautiful 5 year old gelding, Hertzregent out for his very first show. He started of his show career in the best way possible with three blue ribbons by winning all his tests with great scores in the 70''s. Mette was very pleased with him how well he showed of and performed in his test and also staying focused in this environment. She is really excited for his future with his great quality as a dressage horse.

Mette also showed Anne Solbraekke's horse Moosegards Rico in the open Prix St George and they won their first show together with 71%. This was a very large class with two CDI judges so Mette was very happy with their victory.

Mette's assistance Anna Dahlberg showed Lisa McDowell's approved PRE stallion Hielo Mor in second level and did really well. Mette's two students Tracy and Margie also showed their horses and both of them got blue ribbons in their forth and second level tests.

Great weekend for Mette's students

There were lots of mixed feelings over the last weekend. Mette was supposed to have gone to the show at LAEC together with some of her students. Unfortunately Mette had to go home to Sweden since her mom got very ill. Mette is very close to her mom and its very hard to be so far away when anything like this happens. So of course it was very important for Mette to go home to visit and be with her mom. This will also explain if any of you didnt get respond on your emails right away.
As of now Mette's mom is getting better and we all give her our best wishes.

Mette was very excited to have taken Finally out for the first time of the season and also her new young horse Regent together with Anne Solbraekkes two nice horses. Instead Mette is now planning to take them all out at the next show in LA in the end of the month.

Even though Mette didnt go, her students still went. Anna Dahlberg, her assistant, took her own young horse Lourdes out for the first time and they were very successful. Anna and Lourdes earned a score of 77,4%!! This made them High point champions of the show! Congratulations!

Anna also competed Lisa McDowell's approved PRE stallion Hielo Mor and received their highest score of almost 71%.
Mette's other students: Tracy rode her horse Piet in 4th level, Adrienne her horse Winston in PSG and I1, Margie her horse Dresden in 2nd level and Veronica with Apollo rode as Junior rider. Everyone did really well and Team Mette ended up with lots of blue ribbons!

What was the most fun about the show, except the successful rides, was the great teamwork between everyone. Mette was very proud of all her students and was cheering everyone on from Sweden even though she couldn't be there in person. She is extremely happy to have such great clients and we are all very happy to be riding in her team! Thank you Mette for everything you do for us every day!

Mette, Finally and Anne Gribbons

At USET/USEF elite pre-Olympic games clinic in San Diego

Great start of 2012!

2012 has started of great! Everyone in Team Mette are very happy and thankful for all the nice horses that we have in the stable. They are all looking really good and we can’t wait to take them out for the coming show season.

Mette has now spent three month training with Steffen Peters in San Diego with Finally. Steffen is really a phenomenal rider and trainer. He is running his stable together with his wife Shannon Peters. Together they have lots of lovely horses and it’s a great atmosphere to be in. Everyone, including their hardworking grooms, has been super friendly and welcoming. Mette was really happy to get such great help. Finally has really stepped up a lot in his new work. His piaff and passage is fantastic and really soon he will have his one tempis set. It will be very exciting to see him in Grand Prix this season.
Mette will continue working with Steffen and will drive down to his place for lessons. For now Finally will mostly be stable at his own barn at Mill Creek since it’s a long drive to be going back and forth a lot and at the same time keep all the horses at home going now when the new show season is getting started.

Before Mette and Finally left San Diego for this time they participated for the second time in the USET/USEF elite pre-Olympic games clinic. The clinic took place at Steffen Peters beautiful farm. Steffen and his wife Shannon did a great job organizing the clinic and everyone was very well taken care of. There were again, many very nice and promising horses.
The format was slightly different from last time when the riders rode the first day with Anne Gribbons and Steffen Peters and for the second day they all rode through the Grand Prix test. This time the riders rode two days with Anne and Steffen where they spent a lot of time and focus on the different movements in the test. Mette really likes the combination with Anne and Steffen. You get the judge, the rider and the trainer’s point of view. . Mette was very happy with Finally who has improved a lot since last time.

As mentioned earlier we have lots of lovely horses at the stable and many of them are getting ready to show this coming weekend as the first show of the year. This time we are going to Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank.
Mette is taking her horses, including Regent, 5 years old, who she is showing for the first time. Mette is also showing Anne Solbraekke’s two horses Rico and Stravinsky in the open Prix St. George.
Mette’s assistant Anna Dahlberg is showing her own horse, also a 5 year old, for the first time and she is also showing Lisa Mc Dowell’s approved PRE stallion, Hielo Mor. Mette’s student Adrienne, Tracy and Margie are also coming with to show their own horses, so we have everything from young horses up to the higher levels at this coming weekend and we wish everyone best of luck!
