Congratulations Mette!!

Mette has been asked to ride Basquewille in the $25,000 Grand Prix Invitational at the World Cup in Las Vegas, April 18-21, 2007.

Mette is one of only six riders in the U.S. who received this honor.

Mette wins with Donatello in the FEI 5 Year Old Finals with scores of 8.5 at Del Mar Horse Park, March 15-18.

Birgitta Bergsten visits again

Once again, Mette is extremely fortunate to have some of the best available horsewomen in the dressage world to help her prepare for this show season. Birgitta Bergsten came from Sweden for a week to help Mette prepare for the show season. Mette was very appreciative that Birgitta took her valuable time to fly out and fit Mette and her horses into her busy schedule. As with last year, it was very helpful for Mette to get a judge’s point of view early on in the show season. Mette says, “I wish I could have her out here on a regular basis. She’s a wonderful judge, has a great eye, and helps not only with the details, but with the whole picture.

Olympian Debbie McDonald is also back and Mette is thankful that she is willing to take the time to come out to Mill Creek to help her out. Mette treasures her knowledge and friendship. Debbie agrees with Mette that her horses are looking good this year.

Report from LAEC Winter Dressage Show

Mette's young horse, Donatello, was Reserve Champion Winner of the Lower Levels at the L.A. Winter Dressage Show, February 3-4!

In Donatello’s first show of the year, he was Reserve Champion winner of the lower level horses by winning three of his four classes and placing second in the other. Basquewille also had a promising start to this show season with good scores in both of his Grand prix classes. Taison won both of his third level classes and is looking strong for this year. Rockefeller is still coming back from his jaw injury. He is recovering nicely, but was distracted at the show. Overall, Mette is extremely pleased with the results of the Dressage show at LAEC, February 3 & 4, 2007.

Happy New Year!

Report from Mette: Happy New Year! I'm so excited to report that my young horse, Donatello is finally here from Sweden. He will compete in his first show at the L.A. Winter Dressage Show in Burbank early in February. I am also pleased to report that Birgitta Bergsten will be coming back again this month to help perfect my riding from the judge's point of view. She will be looking at all of my horses from my training level horse to my Grand Prix horse, Basquewille. I will report on that later as well as give a full report about what is happening with each of my horses. I wish you all the best in the new year!

Mette's horse Rockefeller (left) received the 2nd highest score in the lower divisions at the Dressage Holiday Special at LAEC (74.000%)!

Mette's November 2006 News

The United States Dressage Federation Horse of the Year standings are final and Mette's horeses are placed well in the standings. Basquewille is the #22 Grand Prix horse in the nation. Edelweiss de Bonce, owned by Cory Walkey, is #24 at the Prix St. Georges level (out of 386 horses) and #55 at the Intermediare I level. Congratulations Mette!

Basquewille also won the USDF Grand Prix All-Breed award for NADWA (North American Danish Warmblood Association) for 2006, as well as the Adequan USDF 2006 All Breed Award for Open 1st Place Grand Prix!

Report on Donatello

My horse Donatello, who's still in Sweden came in 3rd at the Swedish championship for 4 year olds. He is ridden by Minna Telde. In the first qualifier he came in first. In the semi, it was about 50 horses and he was second. The best go to the finals and he ended up 3rd total. One of the judges was American O judge, Linda Zang. I bought Donatello when he was 6 months old and I'm very proud of him and his rider Minna. The sire of Donatello is Don Shufro, ridden by AndreasHelgstrand. Don Shufro won a big CDI in AAhus last weekend. Hoping Donatello will be there as well one day!
